Build Times and Shipping costs
All rods and flies are made to order. This is a one-person-in-their-basement operation, but I will get your order out as fast as I can.Typical turnaround for a kit built rod is 4 weeks from the point we agree on all the details. Custom rod build times...depends entirely on what customizations! My most complex cork handles take 3-4 days of cutting, gluing, and curing before they even go on the sander; decorative wraps usually take me a week. A small-ish order of 6-10 flies will ship within a week under most circumstances. If those estimates are off for any reason I will let you know immediately. I pride myself in timely, transparent communication.
Flies will ship via US Postal Service Priority mail or Global Priority, in a flat rate box. For reference, US domestic shipping in a $10 Small box will easily hold:
- 8-10 Hang Time Optic Minnows or Mini Changers
- 6-8 of the standard 6" Feather or Hybrid Changers
- 4 of the 6" Drunken Changers with their big heads.
If your order is bigger than a Medium Flat Rate Box can hold, any extra shipping is on me (And wow, thank you!).
Custom rods will ship fully insured via the buyer's preferred carrier (at buyer's cost). 4 piece Epic glass rods come with a rod sock and a tough tube that fits into several kinds of USPS poster/art box, so those are easy. 2 and 4 piece custom rods will ship in an oversized thick cardboard or PVC tube. We will sort out these costs before your build starts.
Unfortunately, international shipping from the USA is a disaster at the moment, even to our neighbors Canada and Mexico. There are several countries I can't even ship to because of COVID restrictions. I have still had much, much better luck with Global Priority than any other international carrier, so I will keep using them, but the rates are ugly.
