Epic Fastglass® Custom-built Musky rods

The Swift Fly Fishing team in New Zealand have developed a real winner with their Epic brand Fastglass® blanks. These are tough, powerful blanks with a medium-fast action that really takes some strain off the shoulder on a long musky float.

I have been fishing their 8 foot, lime green, 10 weight "Bandit" rod for 3 years, and it has become my #1 choice for topwater action. Last winter I treated myself to their 8.5 foot baby blue 12 weight, the "Boca Grande", and it was also a revelation; It will throw the biggest fly in your box, and it has the backbone to turn a big fish and bring it to the net.

Epic sells these as bare blanks that I will happily turn into a killer musky rod for you, using our "standard" handle as described on the custom handles page, your choice of reel seat, guides, and thread color. Epic sells a natural Japanese silk thread that turns transparent when finish is applied; for stripping guides I put a loose spiral over the top of that in a dark thread and you get the slick effect pictured. Both rod weights come with a nice rod sock and a heavyweight rod tube.
